Girl Scout Troop 3584 Collects Pajamas & Socks for Anna House
Emily O'Gorman, Paulina Terranova, Danielle Kelly and Nicole Rampanelli are fifth graders at Village School in Syosset and members of Girl Scout Troop 3584. They were inspired to earn their Girl Scout Bronze Award (which is the first level of awards that Girl Scouts can earn) by working with Anna House.
Because John and Tonja Terranova train horses at Belmont, they had shared with them the many benefits Anna House offers to low income families. The Girl Scouts decided to collect pajamas and socks for the children because they know that many of the children arrive at the facility early in the morning and nap for several hours while their parents work.
The girls made flyers requesting donation, which were distributed at their school. They also reached out to family, friends, fellow Girl Scouts, local community members, business owners and the Belmont Race Track family.
After many weeks of hard work, the girls collected 230 pairs of new pajamas and over 300 pairs of socks.
Party At Anna House May 6They hosted a party at Anna House on May 6 to distribute the pajamas and meet the wonderful children and staff members. The children were all thrilled to be able to pick out a new pair of pajamas and were so appreciative to receive these donations.
They also enjoyed the cupcakes, donuts and bagels the girls served.
Emily, Paulina, Nicole and Danielle will received their Bronze award at a recognition ceremony hosted in early June by the Jericho Syosset Association of Girl Scouts.
